Privacy Policy

What we receive depends on how you use the website. It may include:

• Information you choose to send us through the contact form.
• Technical information sent by your browser when you visit a page, such as your IP address and browser type.
• General usage and analytics information about how pages are used.
• Cookie and similar technology information, where those technologies are used.
• Information needed to detect spam, abuse, security threats or technical problems.

We don't ask for government identifiers such as tax file numbers, Medicare numbers or driver licence details, and we don't collect payment information.

Our calculators cover finance, property, health, maths, dates, work, education and unit conversions. To produce a result, you enter values such as amounts, dates, measurements or percentages.

Our calculators work out results within your web browser. The values you type are used to display the result on your screen and are not sent to us or stored by us as part of the calculation. If you use a “copy result” button, the result is copied to your device's clipboard only.

If you send us a message through our contact form, we receive the information you provide:

• your name
• your email address
• the enquiry type and subject
• your message and anything else you choose to include
• the page address you sent the message from and the page you came from, if your browser shares it

We use this information to read and reply to your enquiry, investigate reported calculator problems and consider suggestions. Your message is delivered to us by email through a third-party email delivery service, and a copy is kept in our secure message inbox for up to 12 months so it can be followed up. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Each calculator also has a “Report a problem” form and a “Was this calculator helpful?” vote. A problem report includes what you describe, any values you choose to type in, the page address and, only if you provide it, your email address for a reply; it is handled in the same way as a contact message. Votes are stored only as anonymous yes/no totals for each calculator, and your browser remembers that you voted so you aren't asked again.

If you use the “Suggest a resource” form on our Contact page, we receive your name, email address, website details and message. We use them to review your suggestion and reply, and keep them for up to 12 months like other messages. If your link is listed, we periodically visit the linked page to check it still works.

When another website embeds one of our calculators, the embedded calculator tells us the address of the website it appears on (for example, https://example.com.au). This lets us see where our calculators are used. It does not identify the people visiting that website.

To protect the forms from spam and abuse, your IP address may be used to limit how many messages can be sent in a short period. It is used only for that check and is held briefly by our rate-limiting service.

Please don't include confidential financial information, passwords, medical records or identity documents in a contact message.

Like most websites, some technical information is collected automatically when you visit. Depending on our hosting, security and analytics configuration, this may include:

• Internet Protocol (IP) address
• browser type and version, device type and operating system
• pages visited, and the approximate date, time and duration of the visit
• the referring website or search engine
• general location (such as country or city) derived from your IP address
• error, performance and security information

We use this information to operate the website, understand general usage, improve performance and identify technical or security problems. We don't use it to identify you personally.

A cookie is a small file that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include local storage in your browser. EasyCalculator.com.au may use:

• Essential and preference storage — for example, to remember your language and whether you prefer light or dark mode.
• Analytics cookies — to understand how visitors use the website, where analytics services that use cookies are enabled.

We use analytics services to understand how visitors find and use the website — for example, which calculators are most used, how people move between pages, which devices and browsers are common, and where technical problems occur.

These may include privacy-focused analytics provided by our hosting platform and, where enabled, Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Analytics providers handle information under their own privacy policies.

EasyCalculator.com.au may display advertising, including through Google AdSense, to help keep the calculators free.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the internet.

Advertising is clearly separate from our calculator results. We don't recommend specific financial products or providers, and advertisers don't influence how our calculators work.

We may use information to:

• operate, maintain and provide the website and its calculators
• respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form
• investigate reported calculator errors and technical problems
• improve calculator accuracy, usability and content
• understand general website usage
• protect the website against spam, fraud, abuse and security threats
• show advertising, where advertising is used
• comply with applicable laws

We don't sell your personal information. We may share or disclose information where reasonably necessary with:

• website hosting and content delivery providers
• email delivery providers that pass contact form messages to us
• security, spam-protection and rate-limiting providers
• analytics providers
• advertising providers, where advertising is used
• professional advisers, where reasonably necessary
• government, regulatory or law-enforcement bodies, where required or authorised by law

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. Where we use overseas providers, we choose established services that publish their own privacy and security commitments.

We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. The website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, contact form messages are validated on our server and sent as plain text, and we limit access to the accounts used to run the website.

No website, email system or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please avoid sending highly sensitive information through the website.

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected — for example, to respond to and follow up an enquiry, keep business records, resolve technical issues, protect the website and meet legal obligations. We aim to delete contact messages once they are no longer needed. Analytics and advertising providers keep data according to their own retention settings and policies.

Our pages may link to government resources, reference material and other websites. Once you leave EasyCalculator.com.au, that website's own privacy policy applies. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices or content of websites we don't operate.

EasyCalculator.com.au is a general-purpose website and is not directed at young children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of online services and make sure they don't send personal information through the contact form. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

You can:

• use every calculator without giving us any personal information
• ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it
• control cookies through your browser settings and opt out of personalised advertising as described above
• make a privacy complaint to us

To make a request or complaint, please contact us and choose “General Enquiry”. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the website, our calculators, the services we use or legal requirements. The updated version will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Please check this page from time to time.
