What Is a Mouse Sensitivity Converter?
A mouse sensitivity converter helps transfer a familiar aiming sensitivity from one game to another.
Different games can interpret the same numeric sensitivity value differently, so a sensitivity of 1.0 in one game may feel completely different from 1.0 in another.
How Does the Mouse Sensitivity Converter Work?
The calculator attempts to preserve the same physical mouse movement needed to rotate the camera through 360 degrees.
For example, if the source game uses a yaw coefficient of 0.022 and the target uses 0.0066:
What Is DPI?
DPI stands for dots per inch and describes how many counts the mouse sensor reports for each inch of physical movement.
Higher DPI generally means the computer receives more counts for the same physical mouse movement.
What Is eDPI?
eDPI stands for effective DPI and is commonly used to compare mouse settings within games that use the same sensitivity scale.
For example:
Is 400 DPI at 2 Sensitivity the Same as 800 DPI at 1 Sensitivity?
Within the same game and under the same input conditions, both settings produce:
800 × 1 = 800 eDPI
They therefore produce approximately the same overall angular sensitivity within that game’s sensitivity system.
What Is cm/360?
cm/360 means the physical distance, measured in centimetres, that you move the mouse to rotate the in-game camera through a complete 360° turn.
This is often a better cross-game sensitivity comparison than raw in-game sensitivity numbers.
How Is cm/360 Calculated?
A simplified calculation is:
Inches per 360 = Counts for 360 ÷ DPI
cm/360 = Inches per 360 × 2.54
What Does a Lower cm/360 Mean?
A lower cm/360 means the mouse needs less physical movement to rotate 360 degrees, so the sensitivity is higher.
For example:
- 20 cm/360 is relatively fast;
- 40 cm/360 requires twice as much mouse movement;
- 60 cm/360 is slower again.
There is no single correct sensitivity for every player.
Why Does the Same Sensitivity Feel Different Between Games?
Games can differ in:
- Yaw coefficients;
- Field of view;
- Camera systems;
- ADS multipliers;
- Scope magnification;
- Raw-input handling;
- Mouse acceleration;
- Aspect ratio; and
- Game-engine behaviour.
For this reason, matching cm/360 does not guarantee that two games will feel perceptually identical.
Mouse Sensitivity vs ADS Sensitivity
Hip-fire sensitivity and aim-down-sights sensitivity may use different multipliers.
This calculator is primarily designed for base or hip-fire sensitivity. Separate scope or ADS values may require additional conversion depending on the game.
What Is a Yaw Coefficient?
A yaw coefficient describes how much horizontal angular rotation occurs for each mouse count after sensitivity scaling.
The exact implementation differs by game engine.
When a game’s coefficient is known, it can be used to mathematically match 360-degree mouse distance.
Can I Convert Counter-Strike Sensitivity to VALORANT?
Yes. A sensitivity converter can estimate an equivalent setting by matching angular rotation.
For example, using 0.022 as a Counter-Strike-style yaw and 0.0066 as the target coefficient:
Always test the converted value in-game because game behaviour and field of view can affect perceived sensitivity.
Does DPI Need to Be the Same Between Games?
No, but keeping the same DPI simplifies conversion.
If you change DPI, equivalent sensitivity can be estimated using:
Example: Changing From 800 DPI to 1600 DPI
If your original setting is:
800 DPI × 1 sensitivity
and you switch to 1600 DPI:
The eDPI remains 800.
Is Higher DPI Better?
Higher DPI is not automatically better for aiming.
Modern gaming mice can operate accurately across a wide range of DPI settings. Preference, mouse behaviour, game settings and hardware all matter.
What Sensitivity Do Professional Players Use?
Professional players use a wide variety of sensitivities. Many competitive FPS players use relatively low physical sensitivity to allow finer aiming, but there is no universal professional setting.
Copying another player’s sensitivity does not guarantee better performance.
Should I Use the Same cm/360 in Every Game?
Matching cm/360 can provide a familiar physical mouse movement across games, which some players prefer.
However, games with very different field-of-view or movement systems may still feel different even with identical cm/360.
